About the World's Top 2% Scientists List

Based on the Scopus database, the list evaluates the research output and academic impact of approximately ten million scientists worldwide using composite indicators, including citation counts, the H-index (used to assess both the quantity and quality of a researcher's academic output), the co-authorship-adjusted HM index, and citations to single- or first-authored papers. It covers the top 2% of scientists across 20 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The Career-long Impact list evaluates scientists' overall performance over their entire careers, while the Single-year Impact list focuses on their academic impact in the most recent year.
