City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has achieved its highest-ever position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, rising three places to 70th globally, with strong performances across all five assessment pillars. The University retained its world No. 1 position in "Industry" for the fourth consecutive year and ranked first in Hong Kong in "International Outlook" for the ninth consecutive year, while also improving its scores in "Teaching", "Research Environment" and "Research Quality".

The 2027 rankings assess 2,297 universities across 118 countries and territories based on 17 performance indicators covering Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry and International Outlook. Phil Baty, Chief Global Affairs Officer of THE, highlighted CityUHK’s strong performance in international outlook, which reflects its appeal as a global hub for talent and international collaboration, as well as its outstanding industry-academia-research collaboration and technology transfer, for which it received the highest score globally, jointly with other institutions. 

CityUHK scored 100 in "Industry" for the fourth consecutive year, underscoring its strengths in patent development, technology commercialisation and fostering an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. It has also been named the "Most International University in the World" by THE for three consecutive years, while its "Research Quality" ranking rose into the global top 50, with "Teaching Reputation" and "Research Reputation" both improving for the second consecutive year and several key indicators receiving full marks.
