面包屑 Home / University News Centre / CityUHK and CityUHK (Dongguan) officially unveil shared research laboratories CityUHK and CityUHK (Dongguan) officially unveil shared research laboratories 23 Apr 2026 The shared research laboratories of City University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) were officially unveiled at CityUHK (Dongguan) on 23 April 2026.As a key collaborative platform, the laboratories aim to strengthen integration in teaching, research and innovation between the two institutions through seamless cross-border sharing of physical space and research resources.Representatives from CityUHK and CityUHK (Dongguan) at the ceremonyAlso attending the ceremony were Professor Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK and Chairperson of CityUHK (Dongguan)’s Governing Board; Professor Lu Chun, Executive President of CityUHK (Dongguan) and Vice-President of CityUHK; Professor Liu Zishun, Vice President (Research and Innovation) of CityUHK (Dongguan); Mr Cheng Junxiang, Associate Vice-President (Operations) of CityUHK (Dongguan); academic representatives from CityUHK as well as staff and student representatives of CityUHK (Dongguan). CityUHK (Dongguan) provides 3,000㎡shared research space, which offers practical learning opportunities for students, and supports CityUHK’s research as well as industry-university-research collaboration in Chinese mainland. A total of 24 applications have been received from CityUHK faculties, of which 13 have been approved. Projects cover future smart mobility, advanced nanofabrication, ocean bionic intelligence and robotics and other fields, with 2,338㎡ of space allocated.After the ceremony, guests visited Professor Huang Bolong's materials and energy lab and the Future Smart Mobility (FSM) Lab.Selected Lab VisualsProfessor Huang Bolong's team specialises in materials theory and energy applications. The team has published numerous papers in top-tier international journals such as Nature, Science and Nature Mater., secured major research grants, and built extensive partnerships with leading research institutions worldwide.Established in 2022 and led by Professor Wang Jianping, Chair Professor and Dean of the College of Computing at CityUHK, the FSM Lab focuses on intelligent transport and future mobility solutions for real‑world applications.The ceremony marks a new phase of cross-border research integration between two institutions.
