As an annual international academic event in the fields of bioinformatics and intelligent computing, this conference aimed to unite researchers and promote international exchange of the latest research findings and technological advances.The conference attracted nearly 130 scholars and representatives from universities, research institutes, and related enterprises both domestically and internationally. The organising committee's presidium was present on-site to provide guidance, including renowned bioinformatics scholars such as Prof You Zhuhong from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Prof Zou Quan from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Prof Zhu Zexuan from Shenzhen University.This conference was hosted by City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), co-organised by Shenzhen University, Sun Yat-sen University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Mining and Technology, and Great Bay University, with support from the CityUHK (DG) Education Foundation.The event featured 7 expert keynote speeches, nearly 20 presentations by young scholars (conducted simultaneously online and offline), and 30 poster sessions, creating an integrated academic ecosystem of presentations, posters and real-time interactions.The BIC 2026 opening ceremony began on 14 March. Prof Li Juan, Vice President (Academic) of CityUHK (DG), and Prof Tan Kay Chen, IEEE Fellow from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, delivered the opening speeches respectively. They extended a warm welcome to all participating experts and scholars, and expressed their hope that the conference would inject new momentum into the development of interdisciplinary research. These awards recognise outstanding research and early-career scholars, encouraging further exploration in bioinformatics and intelligent computing.As an annual international academic conference in bioinformatics and intelligent computing, the BIC series has been successfully held for six consecutive editions since 2021. All conference proceedings have been published by ACM and indexed in EI Compendex and Scopus. This year's conference accepted over 100 papers and attracted scholars from more than 20 universities and research institutions.
