The 2026 International Symposium on Computer Applications and Information Technology (ISCAIT 2026) drew to a close recently at City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan). Hosted by the university, the symposium convened leading scholars and researchers for in-depth and productive academic exchanges on frontier topics. The opening ceremony was hosted by the conference general chair, Dr Huang Zhi’an from City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan).

Dr Li Yuan, Associate Vice-President of the university, delivered the opening remarks. She introduced the university’s role as a key science and education platform in the Greater Bay Area (the GBA) and emphasized the critical importance of open collaboration and interdisciplinary innovation in advancing computer and information technologies.

The core of the symposium featured five keynote speeches. Professor Kay Chen Tan (IEEE Fellow) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University shared the latest advances in evolutionary transfer optimization and its applications in solving complex optimization problems. Professor Zhang Wen-An from Zhejiang University of Technology discussed cutting-edge research methods in dynamic system state estimation. Professor Zhu Zexuan from Shenzhen University presented intelligent signal processing techniques for nanopore sequencing. Professor Yu Zhiwen from South China University of Technology provided an in-depth analysis of the theories and application challenges in imbalanced learning. Professor Wang Yulin from Wuhan University offered critical and constructive reflections on the nature and future of deep learning. These speeches painted a comprehensive picture of the field’s development, from foundational theories to industrial applications.

During the afternoon parallel sessions, numerous paper authors delivered oral presentations, showcasing their latest research findings in computer software, computer networks, information processing, and communication technologies. A review panel evaluated the presentations based on innovation, delivery, and Q&A performance, culminating in the announcement of the “Best Oral Presentation Award.” Furthermore, the symposium presented “Best Paper Awards” and “Best Poster Awards” to recognize authors for their outstanding academic contributions.

The ISCAIT 2026 symposium provided a global platform for scholarly exchange and collaboration in computing, highlighting CityUHK (DG)'s role in advancing research and innovation in the GBA, with outcomes set to fuel further technological and industrial progress.
