面包屑 Home / University News Centre / City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) Signs MoU with University of Cambridge City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) Signs MoU with University of Cambridge 16 Dec 2025 On 15 December, 2025, City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) and the University of Cambridge have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in advancing the global development of students and faculty.The signing ceremony was held at the library of CityUHK (Dongguan). The MoU was signed by Professor CHIU Chi Yue, Vice President (Administration) of CityUHK (Dongguan), and Professor Michael Sutcliffe, Head of the Mechanics, Materials and Design Division in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Professor CHEN Fu-rong, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Research) of City University of Hong Kong, Dr. LI Yuan, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Development) of CityUHK (Dongguan), as well as faculty and student representatives were attending the ceremony.In his remarks, Professor Michael Sutcliffe stated that the two institutions shared common ground and complementary strengths in the fields of engineering innovation and interdisciplinary research. He noted particular alignment in talent development within engineering, as well as in the integration of universities, communities, and industries, highlighting similar developmental foundations and resource characteristics. He expressed strong anticipation for wide-ranging and in-depth partnership between the universities.Professor CHIU Chi Yue pointed out that as an international and innovative university, CityUHK (Dongguan) remains firmly oriented towards global frontiers, placing strong emphasis on the integration of engineering education with scientific inquiry and innovation. He described the alliance with the University of Cambridge as establishing a higher-calibre platform for academic exchange and collaborative research, thereby nurturing innovative talent equipped with an international outlook.The signing of this MoU marks a significant step forward in the collaboration between the two universities, reinforcing their shared commitment to realising common aspirations in education and scientific research. Moving forward, both institutions will continue to deepen engagement in areas such as staff and student exchange and joint research endeavours, working together to pioneer innovative approaches to engineering education and industry–academia integration.
