CityUHK (Dongguan) Shines in China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling with Impressive Debut

Recently, at the Guangdong Division Final of the 2025 China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM), undergraduate students of 2024 cohorts from City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) have secured multiple awards in their first-ever participation. Three teams demonstrated strong analytical capabilities and teamwork, earning recognition in one of the world's largest academic contests of its kind.

The team of Qiu Tian, Liu Xiangyi, and Li Junze was awarded a Provincial Second Prize, while Xu Zifeng, Zong Cheng, and Feng Zibin earned a Provincial Third Prize. Another team consisting of He Yu, Huang Ziyu, and Zeng Baoyi received the Award of Merit.

Organized by the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the CUMCM stands as the world's largest competition of its kind in both participant numbers and institutional representation, serving as a premier platform for cultivating mathematical application skills and innovative capabilities among university students.

This year's Guangdong Division Final attracted 20,409 contestants from 115 universities, who formed 6,886 teams competing in the rigorous event.

CityUHK (Dongguan) will continue to expand its cross-disciplinary initiatives and optimize teaching methodologies to nurture well-rounded talents capable of tackling complex challenges.
