During the event, the university signed collaboration agreements with over 20 research institutions, leading enterprises, and potential donor organizations. About 40 mainstream media outlets and independent media representatives attended, engaging in in-depth discussions with faculty and students. The signed projects span various fields, including curriculum development, industry-academia collaboration, and talent cultivation. The initiative aims to foster strong partnerships that will advance the university's educational mission, providing students with enhanced research and practical opportunities while expanding employment channels. This collaboration also seeks to inject new momentum into the partner organizations, promoting a win-win scenario for resource sharing and academic growth. Professor Lu Chun, Vice President of CityUHK and Executive President of CityUHK (Dongguan), emphasised the university's commitment to establishing a top-tier educational platform and innovation hub. The goal is to cultivate innovative and versatile talents that can adapt to future societal demands. CityUHK (Dongguan) plans to strengthen its collaborations with various stakeholders to promote university-industry cooperation, integrate research and education, and accelerate the transformation of research outcomes, contributing to high-quality socio-economic development. In terms of research collaboration, CityUHK (Dongguan) signed agreements with the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, the China Spallation Neutron Source Science Centre, and the Dongguan National Excellence Engineer Innovation Research Institute. These agreements aim to enhance the university's research capabilities and social service capacity, ensuring seamless integration between research and industry while promoting industrial development and upgrades. Following this, the university also signed cooperation and donation agreements with several enterprises and institutions, focusing on collaborative efforts in talent development, industry-education integration, and campus development to build a high-quality educational platform and improve research and learning conditions for faculty and students. The City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) was officially established on 16 April 2024. This marks a significant achievement in implementing the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and promoting higher education cooperation in the region. The university successfully completed its enrollment plan for its inaugural year and officially commenced classes on 2 September 2024.
